A library that was closed in council cuts has taken its first step towards reopening after its bid to become a charity was accepted.
Campaigners fighting to save the North Harrow Library, which was closed earlier this month, have had their bid to run the library as a charity accepted.
The group heard from the Charity Commission today, which has approved the registration.
Kamal Shah, chairman of the North Harrow Community Partnership, said: "I am really pleased our hard work and commitment has been recognised by the council.
"Hopefully we can work with the council to make the library a success.
"This an asset the North Harrow Community cannot afford to lose."
Harrow Council's assessment panel will meet later this week to discuss the group's business plan and bid to run the facility as a community library.
