College students enjoyed a day of discovery as they toured a television studio as part of a volunteering project.

Students with learning difficulties from Harrow College were joined by staff from Discovery for the television broadcaster’s annual volunteering day.

Staff, students and tutors spent their afternoon cutting and gluing as they decorated wooden boxes with coloured paper, which will be sold in the college’s Paint Pots Shop to raise money for a new sensory room.

The room will make up part of a new building for students with learning difficulties or disabilities and is due to open at the college in September.

During the Discovery volunteer day, students were treated to a tour around the transmission areas and audio mixing booths, where they recorded their own voices to introduce a shark attack programme.
