Rice, flour and oil will be shared after a supermarket donated food to a community centre.

The Sri Lankan Muslim Cultural Centre, in Whitefriars Avenue, Wealdstone, has received a large donation of food this Ramadan thanks to Tesco in Harrow.

Tesco’s Belmont Metro has provided more than £500 worth of staples such as rice, flour and oil, which the centre will donate to help feed those in need.

The centre was opened in 2000 and works with Muslim charities in the area to provide support for some of the community’s most vulnerable people by supplying hot meals and food parcels.

Deborah Briody, Tesco’s borough champion for Harrow, said: “As Ramadan is a time associated with generosity and giving, we’re delighted to have donated food to the Sri Lankan Muslim Cultural Centre in Harrow, and hope it will go towards supporting those in need this Ramadan.”
