Banners were unfurled and placards were waved as schoolchildren marched for road safety.

Pupils from Kenmore Park Infant and Nursery School, in Moorhouse Road, Queensbury, took to the streets to petition the council to install a one-way road system outside the school.

Teachers, staff, pupils and parents have written a letter to Harrow Council explaining that both Moorhouse Road and Warenford Road can be unsafe, with cars blocking each other in or driving dangerously - often resulting in children being late to class.

Carrying banners and leaflets designed by themselves, pupils marched to Centenary Park to campaign for a one-way system.

Ambreen Sadiq, the Rights Respecting and Global Links leader, said: "The children at the school have a strong voice in decisions that affect their lives in school.

“They have not only been campaigning on a local level for their right to be safe but have also campaigned on a global level where they have campaigned for children's rights around the world."
