Scouts are packing their bags to jet off for a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

This summer, five Explorer Scouts from 3rd and 5th Pinner Scout Groups will fly out to the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan.

Over the past year, the group has raised money with activities including ferret race nights, bingo nights, quiz nights, bag packing at Tesco Pinner Green and events at the Pinner Village show.

This culminated in a quiz night last week at St Lukes Church in Pinner, bringing the total raised to £21,000, meaning the team can now concentrate on preparing for July.

The World Scout Jamboree is an event for scouts aged 14 to 18 that takes place every four years and can only be attended once as a Scout.

More than 25,000 scouts from all corners of the planet will meet to share ideas, learn about new cultures, develop skills to be used in the future and develop a better understanding of important world topics such as global development and peace.
