Toddlers hope to collect a treasure trove of money for children in need with a fundraising event.

The Big Toddle event, hosted by the charity Barnados, is calling on parents, nurseries and child minders to get dressed up in their best pirate costumes and help raise money for children in need.

The fundraising drive, running between June 1 and 12, will see thousands of children and adults dressing up as pirates and walking the suggested half a mile with friends and family in return for donations to the charity.

More than £7,000 was raised at a Harrow Big Toddle event in 2012, and parents and toddlers joined together to raise £412 in the borough last year.
