A dancer has been crowned a leisure centre’s most inspirational woman.

Bhavani Sheth, from Harrow, was chosen as the Harrow Leisure Centre winner after sports operator Everyone Active launched a social media competition to celebrate inspiring women in sport.

Bhavani was nominated for the Our Girls Can campaign by her mother Rajeshri for her ongoing contribution to charities such as Comic Relief and Great Ormond Street Hospital through dance and music.

After being chosen from hundreds of entries, the 17-year-old was presented with her prize of a three-month membership for the centre and will now be entered into a national draw for a chance to win £500 towards a holiday.

John Sewell, general manager at Harrow Leisure Centre said: “Bhavani’s story was incredibly inspiring and she’s a fantastic example of what this competition is about – celebrating real women that have motivated and encouraged others to be active.

“We received some fantastic nominations through the Our Girls Can campaign and we’re pleased that so many people got involved and helped to celebrate all of the strong and empowering women we have here in Harrow.

“We’ll certainly be rooting for Bhavani in the national draw and would like to wish her the best of luck from everyone here at Harrow Leisure Centre.”

Each winner from Everyone Active’s 102 centres across the UK will now go head-to-head in a battle to be named the national winner of the competition.

The overall winner is due to be announced later this month.
