People are being invited to have their say on plans to develop Harrow's Kodak site.

Developer Land Securities will display revised proposals for the eastern part of the Kodak site, off Headstone Drive in Wealdstone, at two public information sessions later this month.

Outline planning consent was granted for the site in 2012 and developer Land Securities is now submitting a fresh planning application for up to 1,800 homes, employment space and community facilities - including a new school.

Ali Larner, development surveyor at Land Securities, said: “We have been working hard with Harrow Council and the GLA to ensure that the proposals align with local aspirations for new jobs, homes and community facilities.

“The revised proposals will still ensure the delivery of employment space and community facilities to benefit existing and new residents, while helping to meet the need for new housing that has been identified in the area.

“It would be great to see local people at the information session to share our plans for the future.”

Information sessions will take place at Headstone Manor, Pinner View, on April 17 from 4pm to 8pm and April 18 from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Earlier in the year, Harrow Council secured backing from the Greater London Authority for the creation of a new ‘Heart of Harrow’ housing zone, which is designed to provide 5,294 new homes in the area and includes the Kodak site.

The council has now launched a consultation on the draft regeneration strategy, which details how it will deliver the housing plan by developing brownfield sites including the Kodak site, Harrow Leisure Centre and the Civic Centre.

The authority's deputy leader Councillor Keith Ferry said: “Our vision is to create a thriving community for local people to live and work. We have already made great strides towards this with the allocation of funding from the GLA for our ‘Heart of Harrow’ housing zone, but we are not finished there.

“The plans we have for Harrow include the biggest housebuilding programme for a generation, which will also include new schools, public spaces, transport investments and range of other improvements.

“This growth will bring employment, apprenticeship and training opportunities for our residents and commercial opportunities for our businesses.

“This is an exciting time for me and it is great to see these developments moving at pace. We will be giving residents an opportunity to comment on our plans over the coming months and we look forward to hearing your views.”
