With one month until the General Election, Harrow Council is reminding people to register to vote.
On May 7, polling stations across the borough will open for people to vote for the candidate they want to represent them in parliament.
Only people who are registered can vote, so people who are not on the electoral register, or who have moved recently or changed their name, will need to make sure you are registered by April 20 to have your say.
Acting returning officer Hugh Peart said: “This is going to be one of the closest elections in history and your vote counts.
"We don’t want anyone to miss out on the chance to choose who represents them in parliament. If you don’t register, you can’t vote.
“There is still time so everyone who is eligible is encouraged to register to vote so that they can have their say.”
Last summer a new system for electoral registration in the UK called Individual Electoral Registration was launched which means residents need to register individually instead of by household.
For further information on candidates and how to register to vote, residents can visit www.harrow.gov.uk/elections or call 020 8901 2660 to ask for a form to be sent out.
