Primary school pupils won medals in a competition to find the country’s best young mathematicians.

Aarohi Kulkarni and Vishruth Dhamodharan, who attend Alpha Preparatory School, in Hindes Road, Harrow, were presented with bronze medals by The Mathematical Association in this year’s Primary Mathematics Challenge.

The first stage of the challenge took place in November 2014, when pupils from the school competed alongside 80,000 children across the country.

Aarohi and Vishruth of Year 6 were in the top one per cent, who were invited to take part in the bonus Round in February, when they were among 530 pupils to win awards.

Mr Silvester of Alpha Preparatory School said: “We are all extremely proud that Aarohi and Vishruth have won a Bronze medal. It is such an achievement to receive recognition for mathematical ability on a national scale.

“All of the children at the school enjoyed taking part in the challenge and most importantly, it shows them that maths can be fun.”
