A rollerblading fan is to skate 100 miles to raise money for a hospice.

Kunal Patel, from Sudbury Hill, Harrow, is preparing to rollerblade the 100 miles from London to Brighton and back.

From April 30 to May 1, the keen skater will take up his latest challenge in aid of St Luke’s Hospice – a charity his mother has always supported.

The 27-year-old said: “Having always felt the love and care of hospices through friends’ and families’ experiences, choosing to support St Luke’s Hospice was a simple choice for me.

“My mother brought me up to understand that St Luke’s plays an important role in our community in helping others.

“The hospice means a lot to me; the time has come for me to get involved and put my efforts into supporting the hospice."

A lifelong fan of inline skating, he is encouraging other volunteers or members of the public to try their hand at something new in aid of the charity.

He added: “Skating long distance is a tough challenge but when you enjoy something so much it turns into something beyond a challenge, a connection that only you would know about.

“I always urge people to go for what their hearts tell them to make a difference and inspire – so now it’s my turn for St Luke’s.”
