Rotarians raised a flag against polio after climbing a London landmark.

To celebrate Rotary International's continued efforts to put an end to polio, three Rotarians from The Rotary Club of Edgware & Stanmore joined 150 others to climb the O2 Dome and raise the ‘End Polio Now’ flag above the capital.

The group’s current and past presidents were joined by members of Rotary clubs across Great Britain and Ireland as they scaled the dome to continue their fundraising for the global campaign.

Suresh Bharwaney, who took part in the climb, said: “What an amazing experience, I never thought that it would be that easy.”

Also benefiting from sponsorship raised will be the organisation's new ‘walk For water’ initiative, which aims to provide those in less developed countries with barrels to help them transport water more easily.

Climb organiser Adrian Brewer said: “We organised the climb of the O2 Arena to mark both our continued efforts in the fight against polio and walk for water and to celebrate Rotary’s 110th anniversary.

“As part of this, we have literally flown the ‘End Polio Now’ campaign flag high above the capital’s skyline.

“I would like to urge the British public to get behind Rotary and help make history by ridding the world of this disease forever.”
