The Mayor of London has backed a campaign to bring Crossrail to Harrow.

Boris Johnson visited Harrow and Wealdstone Station on Friday to promote the scheme that Harrow West candidate Hannah David has been fighting for since last year.

The project received a boost in August when transport secretary Patrick McLaughlin announced a feasibility study into the scheme, which would see Crossrail extended to Hertfordshire with a stop at Harrow and Wealdstone Station.

Since then, Mrs David has been gathering support and campaigning to push the project through to completion.

She said: “Bringing Crossrail to Harrow would bring untold opportunities to our area, and would help to regenerate places such as Wealdstone and Harrow Town Centre.

“The support we have seen for this scheme from people and key stakeholders, such as the Mayor, has been overwhelming."
