A leisure centre has been recognised for its work helping disabled people take part in sport.

Harrow Leisure Centre, operated by Everyone Active in partnership with Harrow Council, has been awarded the Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) Mark by the English Federation of Disability Sport.

To gain the IFI Mark, which recognises those addressing inequality in physical activity, Harrow Leisure Centre had to demonstrate health and safety procedures, customer service and operations.

The centre was assessed in staff training, sports development, fitness equipment, accessible facilities and marketing and engagement.

Everyone Active general manager at Harrow Leisure Centre John Sewell said: “We are committed to providing accessible fitness facilities and encouraging more local people with disabilities to be active.

“We are extremely proud to have achieved the IFI Mark accreditation. It’s a fantastic achievement and a testament to the dedication of our staff in promoting awareness of the benefits of exercise for all abilities.”
