A government minister brought news that a primary school will receive money to rebuild its main building.
Elmgrove School, in Kenmore Avenue, learnt during a visit from civil society minister Rob Wilson MP on Monday that it will receive the cash from the Department of Education's priority school building programme.
Mr Wilson said: "I'm delighted to announce today that Elmgrove Primary School and Nursery will benefit from the second phase of the priority school building programme.
“This programme will invest £2 billion into rebuilding and refurbishing school buildings in 277 schools between 2015 and 2021.
“For Elmgrove Primary School, this will transform the learning environment for pupils so that they can be educated in high quality classrooms and teachers can access the best facilities.
“During my tour I was impressed with the excellent behaviour of the children, the wonderful displays and the effort to make the school look the best it can until such time as the renovations are made."
Mr Wilson and Harrow East MP Bob Blackman were shown around the school during the visit.
Darren Aisthorpe, headteacher at Elmgrove School, said: “This investment is an important step for the school and our pupils. This will allow us to transform the school for the future. I am excited to be the headteacher at this important time for Elmgrove School, pupils, staff and the local community.”
A detailed survey will be carried out to develop a timetable for the work over coming months.
