When two members of staff found love at a care home, they knew they wanted to share their wedding celebrations with everyone who had helped bring them together.

Social co-ordinator Celine Allen, 30, and her new husband, kitchen assistant Elliot Cohen, 31, of Edgware, met more than three years ago while working at the Princess Alexandra Home in Stanmore – and became friends after Elliot made sandwiches for her each day for lunch.

As many residents of the home were unable to attend the ceremony at Edgware United Synagogue, Celine took out her wedding dress again and Elliot got suited and booted for a wedding tea with all the residents at the home last week.

Colleagues decorated the lounge with flowers and banners for the wedding party and Elliot’s colleagues from the kitchen made a special cake for the occasion.

Speaking afterwards, resident Sheila Breslaw, 85, said: “It was fantastic afternoon and they deserve all the luck in the world.”

The home's manager Elizabeth Mandeya added: “Celine and Elliot are such a great couple. It’s lovely that they wanted to share their happiness in this way.

“The residents have been looking forward to this tea so much and it shows what a good relationship our staff have with the residents here that they want to involve them in what happens outside the home and bring it to them.”
