A website for a community centre and museum has been hacked by a group claiming to be linked to Islamic terrorists.

West House Pinner, a community centre located in Pinner Memorial Park, had its website hacked by a group who call themselves the Middle East Cyber Army.

A video playing on the centre's homepage reads "Hacked by MECA", and boasts a message saying: “We are Muslims and we are proud. Qu'ran is our book, in Allah we trust, in Allah we work.

“Death to Israel, free Palestine, Jerusalem is ours.”

Websites around the world have been hacked by the Muslim activist group this week, with some making references to the Charlie Hebdo shooting in Paris earlier this month.

A statement on the centre’s facebook said: “Sorry to say that the West House Pinner website has been hacked, so please ignore it until we can take it down.

“If you'd like to make a room booking for West House, please contact Dot at Daisy's Cafe in person or on 020 8866 3035.”

Martin Verden, Chairman of The West House and Heath Robinson Museum Trust said: “Our website was brought off line briefly after it was targeted by cyber squatters recently.  At no time was any data on the site compromised. We are working with the police to investigate this incident.  The site is now up and running normally again.”

Centre users have reacted angrily to the hacking. One person, who did not want to be named, said: “It’s a vile, disgusting thing to do to a community site. The centre houses so many activities for the public so it makes no sense for them to hack the website, I can't believe it.”
