Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt visited an NHS group to discuss the future needs of health services.

Secretary of State for Health Jeremy Hunt visited the NHS Harrow Clinical Commissioning Group yesterday after a total of £260million was allocated to the group for its 2015/6 budget in the Chancellor's autumn statement - an increase of around around £18million.

The clinical commissioning group is made up of GPs and pays for hospital, A&E and mental health services in the borough.

MP Bob Blackman hosted the meeting with Hannah David, the Conservative candidate for Harrow West, and among those attending were Dr Amol Kelshiker, Dr Kaushik Kari, Dr Lawrence Gould, Rob Larkman, Javina Sehgal and Gerald Zeidman, along with the chairman of the Harrow Patient Participation Network.

Mr Blackman said: “At the end of the day, we all want to make sure that patients receive the best possible care locally.

“I was very pleased to help facilitate a meeting to allow the Secretary of State for Health to touch bases with our CCG, in order to ensure that they have the best possible support for the work they do and that any concerns they might have are being heard at the highest possible level of Government.”
