A group of mums held a Diwali community evening to keep their cultural traditions alive.

More than 150 people attended the event by the Desi Twist Group for the second year in a row.

The celebrations were held at the Star Lounge included children’s dance performances, llive music and a fashion show.

Shivani singh who helped organise the event said: "It was a great success and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

"It was lovely for the children to be able to perform for their parents. For us it was to bringing people together so they can celebrate and important date the calendar.

“A lot of people who came to the event have family back in India so it was chance to be with people and celebrate as part of a group.

“I feel very proud to have been able to organise the event and make a home away from home and keep our culture and tradition alive.”
