Holocaust survivors were “transported back into a pre-war world” at a music concert.

Refugees and Holocaust survivors were invited to the London Jewish Cultural Centre (LJCC), in Ivy House, Golders Green, for a show featuring songs from the 1930s.

More than 80 people attended the event, organised by the Six Point Foundation.

Musicians performed pieces including Fiddler on the Roof, Viennese waltzes by Strauss, pieces by Anton Lehar and a rendition of O Sole Mio.

For many, the music evoked memories of a time before the horrors of the Holocaust.

Trudy Gold, executive director of Holocaust Studies at the London Jewish Cultural Centre, said: “The repertoire transported us all to a pre-Holocaust world.

“I am constantly amazed at the strength and dignity of survivors - we are privileged to work with them.

“The Six Point Foundation has given us the opportunity to thank them for their incredible teaching efforts as they continue to visit schools and tell their stories across the UK."
