People are being invited to have their say about plans for a town centre eyesore.

The Hyde Group bought the former Royal Mail sorting office site in College Road, Harrow town centre, last year and is in the early stages of developing a planning application for the site.

People will be able to talk to developers and give their views about what they would like to see on the site.

Plans for a skyscraper were rejected by Harrow Borough Council in 2011 but the proposal to build a 19-storey structure was accepted by the Secretary of State, subject to "world-class architectural design" being achieved.

The public exhibition will take place at Harrow Baptist Church, in College Road, on Wednesday October 15, from 3pm to 8pm and on Saturday October 18, from 10am to 2pm.

Land and planning manager for the site Phiroze Mackenzie, said: “Our proposal is to bring the site back in to use and provide much-needed new homes for Harrow, including affordable housing.

“Our vision is to provide a new public place at the heart of the site, opening it up on to College Road. The public place would also lead to a multi-functional community facility.

“We will be holding a workshop on this as part of our exhibition in order to get views on how this area could be best used.”
