Three new schools will open in the borough after being given the go-ahead by the Department for Education.

The latest round of approved free schools include Harrow Bilingual Primary School, Harrow View Primary School and Pinner High School.

The bilingual school will form a new two-form entry Church of England Primary School teaching French to pupils form an early age.

Executive headteacher Daniel Norris said: “I am absolutely delighted that we have been given the go-ahead by the Department for Education.

“The government has clearly recognised the need to engage children with languages from a young age and I look forward to starting the next stage of our journey towards opening an excellent new school for Harrow.”

Ian Fernandes, the chairman of governors for the new school, which will open in 2016, said: “As a local parent this is simply excellent news.

“To be able to bring bilingual education to the state sector in this area of London is a great step forward.”

Harrow View Primary School has been set up by seven academies in the borough and will be located on the Kodak development site.

Once open and full it will teach 630 pupils, with 26 nursery places and special educational needs places.

Approval was also given to Pinner High School, which was set up by the headteachers from eight academies in Harrow, who will also help with the running of the new school.

At full capacity the new community school will have a total of 1,152 places and will be located on the site of the former Heathfield Girls school in Pinner which closed this year, and purchased by the Department for Education.
