Confidence levels soared as adults with learning disabilities visited a farm to take part in a variety of activities.

SweetTree Fields, in Mill Hill, invited people to find out more about the therapeutic services it offers.

The open day was hosted by SweetTree Home Care services, which provides support at home and in the community to people with special needs.

Visitors to the event could build a bird box, bake foccacia bread and make butter, take part in a woodland walk or even turn their hand to falconry with some visiting Harris hawks.

Jude Allen, who runs the SweetTree Fields project. Allen, who runs the SweetTree Fields project, said: “We know from experience that projects of this nature have the potential to help change lives.

“Structured and supportive outdoor activities can help people experiencing social or educational exclusion to regain confidence and self-esteem. The process is designed to enable people to reengage with both society and themselves, demonstrate their own capabilities, building success and hence their confidence in life.”
