A charity that tackles loneliness and isolation amongst elderly people is looking for people to spare a few hours and volunteer.

Contact the Elderly organises monthly tea parties for people aged over 75 across Harrow to help create friendship links for those without a support network.

The charity is seeking for more volunteer drivers who can collect guests from their homes and accompany them to the gathering each month.

Each guest is collected from their home by a volunteer driver and then taken to a volunteer host's home to join a group for vital companionship.

Contact the Elderly’s north London development officer Isabella Wise said: “The charity is committed to offering a lifeline of friendship to the oldest and loneliest people, but our hopes of extending this lifeline to even more older people in Harrow are currently fading due to a real shortage of volunteers in the area”.
