Schoolchildren across the borough have been set the challenge of designing their own road safety campaign.

National road safety charity Brake has joined forces with promotional products make Recognition Express Harrow for the competition ahead of Road Safety Week.

Pupils from the age of four to 11 have been set the challenge of designing banners encouraging people to be considerate and aware of other road users.

The competition, which is now in its sixth year, has the same theme as the national week of action in October of “look out for each other”.

The winners of the competition will win a large banner featuring their design for their school, and each school which takes part will get a free annual membership to the charity.

Joe Burns, Corporate Fundraiser at Brake says: “Road Safety Week is a community event, so we are always thrilled when local businesses take part.

“Recognition Express Harrow really helps to bring road safety to life for children with this annual competition.

“It’s a great way to get children thinking about how to keep themselves safe near roads. We encourage schools to take part and use the opportunity to plan lessons and activities surrounding Road Safety Week.”

The national campaign week will take place from November 17 to November 24 and entries for the banner competition must be in by October 10.
