A group of amateur cyclists who rode all way from Harrow to Paris have raised more than £5,500 for charity.

The team called The Bombay Bicycle Club, made up of friends from the Stanmore and Kingsbury areas, took on the four-day challenge last week.

Starting from Belmont Circle the ten riders made their way to French capital raising money for a selection of charities including the NSPCC, the British Lung Foundation and Crohn’s and Colitis UK.

Rider Mitesh Vagadia who took on the challenge said: “I was the last one to finally sign up to the ride.

“I knew a couple of the guys who had the plan to ride to Paris and when they told me I just said to them I thought they were crazy, I didn’t think they could do it.

“But after a couple of weeks I decided I wanted to push myself and joined them.

“We trained for months, every weekend setting off at about 5am doing big rides getting ready and it took a lot of work.

“The ride itself was a huge challenge and we all had to dig deep and push ourselves. By the end of it I think all of us thought we could go on further."

The team rode the whole way with a support van sponsored by HEP Supplies Ltd based in Kingsbury.

Mr Vagadia added: “At first we didn’t think about raising money for charity, we just wanted to push ourselves to the limit.

“But we realised we were doing this event we might as well raise money for some good causes, which were close to our hearts.

“We’re all really pleased we’ve been able to collect so much and we hope we’ll reach our target.”
