Beekeepers are inviting people to sample some of their honey and find out more about the “gorgeous” creatures.

The Barnet and District Beekeepers Society is holding its 100th honey show for the community to find out what the buzz is about the hobby.

Mayor of Barnet Cllr Hugh Rayner will also attend the event, which will include a honey cake bake off.

Publicity officer David Miveld, 57, said: “It takes two lifetimes to learn all there is to know about bees.

“They’re a very important part of our environment so we should protect them and take care of them. They are gorgeous insects.”

It will be held on Saturday, September 27. For more information, contact secretary@barnetbeekeepers.org.uk
