Cinderella will be the special guest at a charity event in memory of an eight-year-old boy who died of a brain tumour.

Charlie Carter-Bates, of Warrens Shawe Lane, Edgware, passed away in 2010 – and his grieving parents, Karen Carter and Dean Bates, have set up Charlie Charges On in his memory.

On Sunday, August 31, they will take to The Broadwalk Centre, in Station Road, Edgware, to help raise money for the Brain Tumour Research charity.

Disney princess Cinderella will help his parents encourage people to buy tickets for a black-tie charity ball, to be held at the Hilton Hotel, Watford, on October 25, 2014.

Charlie Charges On was named in honour of his favourite animal, the rhinoceros.

When the group was first set up in February 2014, Mrs Carter had set herself a goal of £5,000 a year and so far, has raised £3,997 in donations alone.

Even though brain tumours kill more people under 40 than any other cancer, the disease receives less than one per cent in grant money for research purposes. A day of research costs £2,740.

Tickets will be available from 12 noon at the centre. For more information, visit http://www.charliechargeson.com/.
