Supporters, staff and volunteers of a charity will be taking the plunge in a 24-hour swimming challenge.

A total of 35 staff and volunteers will take on the 24-hour swim challenge at the Aspire National Training Centre (ANTC) in Wood Lane.

Aspire is a national charity based in Stanmore and provides help to people who have been paralysed by spinal cord injury.

The 24-hour swim will take start on Sunday September 7 and end the next day at 9am and those interested in sponsoring the team can do so here.

On the Sunday there will be a number of activities on throughout the day from 12.30 to 4.30pm at the centre including gym taster sessions, stalls, tombola and an inflatable run in the sports hall.

The event is part of the Aspire Channel Swim which challenges people across the country to swim the 22-mile length of the English Channel in their local pool to raise money for the charity over a 12 week period.

Last year Last year 2,700 swimmers raised over £260,000 for the charity which is encouraging others to sign up.

The challenge starts from September 8 to December 1 and is open to anyone of any age with those interested in signing up able to do so by clicking here.
