A leisure centre has been shortlisted for a regional award following votes from its members.

Harrow Leisure Centre has been nominated for the best mid-market club in the south east in the Health Club Awards.

The centre in Christchurch Avenue is managed for Harrow Borough Council by Everyone Active.

The company took over the running of leisure facilities in Harrow in September last year as part of a deal with neighbouring boroughs of Ealing and Brent.

Everyone Active manager for Harrow Duncan Cogger said: “We are delighted to see Harrow Leisure Centre nominated for this prestigious award.

“I would like to thank all our customers for voting for us, it means a great deal to the team.

“This nomination is testament to their hard work and dedication and I would like to congratulate them on getting to this stage.”

Harrow Council's cabinet member for community Cllr Sue Anderson said: “I am delighted to hear Harrow Leisure Centre has been shortlisted for the Health Club Awards and hope they go on to win the award.

“They have done a fantastic job in improving the facilities and offering an increased range of affordable classes, activity sessions and state of the art sports equipment for all ages and groups in the community allowing them to improve their health and wellbeing.”

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony at National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on September 30.
