Tributes have been paid to an “energetic and tremendous” former mayor after his death.
Don Goodman, who was Mayor of Barnet in 1988 and 1989, died on August 7.
The former councillor represented the Brunswick Park ward from 1982 until 1998.
Times & Independent Series photographer Peter Beal, who worked very closely with Mr Goodman during his time on the council, said: “He was good man by name, and a good man by nature.
“He was a very unique character. People were always warmed by his personality.
“I knew him on a professional level, but during his year in office I got to know him quite well.”
Mr Goodman also played a leading role in Barnet’s twinning with Le Raincy, a suburb of Paris.
During his time on the council Mr Goodman was chairman of the grants committee and also held posts on Barnet’s appeals committee and public works committee.
The current mayor of Barnet, Councillor Hugh Rayner, said: “Don was a councillor for many years. Well respected and energetic, he made a tremendous contribution during his time with Barnet Council.
“All our thoughts are very much with Don’s family during this difficult time.”
