Drawings of tattoos worn by burglars who broke into a woman’s home and stole jewellery have been released by police.

The robbery took place in Stanway Gardens, Edgware, on Thursday August 7 at around 11.05am.

The victim heard banging from the bedroom of another person who lived at the address and believed they were late for work.

Then two men wearing balaclavas and gloves burst into her bedroom demanding to know where a safe was kept.

The woman told the men there was no safe at the house and handed over cash and jewellery from her bedroom.

The two men forced the woman downstairs and kept demanding to know where the safe was, when a third man appeared from upstairs and the three men left the scene.

Police have released drawings of tattoos which were seen on two of the men.

Detective Constable Kerry Bonomi of Barnet Police said: "This has been a disturbing incident for the victim, which has clearly left her traumatised.

“We would like to hear from anyone who may have been in the area of Stanway Gardens at the time of this incident and witnessed any suspicious activity.

“We would particularly like to hear from anyone who may recognise these distinctive tattoos etched on two of the suspects. Do they have a meaning?”

One of the men was described as white, 6ft tall, of stocky build, with brown eyes, and an eastern European accent. He was wearing a black balaclava, gloves, a white T-shirt, dark blue jeans and blue trainers.

He also had a tattoo on right side of neck which was diamond shape with three vertical arrows through the middle.
