A councillor has been selected as the Labour Party’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency of Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner.
Harrow Borough Councillor Michael Borio was selected to stand by the party last week and will run in the general election in May 2015.
Mr Borio, who represents Queensbury ward, said: “I’m deeply honoured to have been selected as Labour’s candidate.
"Many people voted Tory and Liberal Democrat at the last election and won’t again because of the damage they’re doing to many of our public services.
“Local residents are now waiting weeks to see their GP, our NHS is being privatised and the poor and vulnerable continue to be hit hardest by Tory cuts.
“The people of Ruislip, Northwood and Pinner deserve better.”
