People evacuated from the borough to escape bombing in the Blitz met the Mayor of Harrow.
Last week members of the Harrow Evacuees Association were treated to tea with Mayor Councillor Ajay Maru, who spoke to them about their experiences during the Second World War.
The association is currently producing a book of members' stories, which will include a chapter on the evacuation from Harrow in 1944.
Cllr Maru said: “I was moved by some of the stories that were shared this afternoon. The evacuation was a significant event for Harrow where thousands of children were affected.
“I hope their stories are remembered for years to come, and I look forward to reading the book of evacuation stories that the Harrow Evacuees Association are working on.”
