A young politician met the Speaker of the House of Commons when she was given a tour of Parliament.

Maya Caddle, from North London Collegiate School, in Edgware, got the tour with the help of MP Bob Blackman and met the Commons Speaker John Bercow.

The sixth form student was recently elected member of the UK Youth Parliament and during her visit attended Prime Minister’s Questions.

She said: “It was an absolute honour to meet the Speaker. He was incredibly down to earth and I found it both fascinating and interesting to find out about his background.

“Watching PMQs from the Speaker's Gallery in the Commons was definitely an experience I won't forget. It was engaging, fast paced and incredibly loud.”

Thank you so much for your lovely comment. Whilst I go to school at North London Collegiate School (which is in the borough of Harrow), I am a member of Enfield Youth Parliament (where I live) which is also very active in its own right. :)

it is good to see an article that shows today's youth in a good light. Members of the youth parliament may be tomorrow's politicians.
