Families enjoyed the sun today at an “amazing” summer fun day in West Harrow.

Children played on a bouncy castle, had their faces painted, and tried on police hats at an event organised by Friends of West Harrow Park.

Casey Dalton, of Shaftesbury Avenue, South Harrow, was at the day with three daughters, Emma, aged 5, and Katie and Beth, both aged 3.

She said that all three children were “loving” the bouncy castle, adding: “The fact that this is all free is pretty amazing.”

Wendy Peach, who had taken her two granddaughters, aged three and six, to the day, said the face-painting was going down well.

She said: “They’re now making bracelets, and they want to go on the climbing wall, but it looks like it’s fully booked. They’ve had a great time so far, though.”

Emma Jones and Brittany Tate, both aged 15, had been learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) from paramedics and nurses.

Emma said: “It was really great that I could learn in a calm and fun environment something that could save someone’s life, and it was quite simple too!”

Brittany added that they were heading over to the face painting stall to get their faces painted next.

Samantha Cheung, 14, of Harrow Weald, was at the event as a member of the police cadets, which she said she had joined because she wants to be a police officer.

The cadets, who were with Harrow Police, played the sirens on a police car and allowed children to try on police hats.

Meanwhile, children climbed up the rock-climbing wall before abseiling down, which Oliver Young, aged 9, said was “scary”, but “fun”.
