A man has been jailed after a stand-off with armed police that lasted several hours.
John Baldwin, 28, of Headstone Lane, Harrow, was sentenced to 12 weeks in prison for the incident, which took place on Monday June 30.
Police called to reports of a disturbance at a home in Headstone Lane at 3.46pm found a 44-year-old man with a cut to his ear at the scene.
Baldwin, armed with a knife, became abusive and threatening towards officers and locked himself in the house.
Armed police were called and spoke to Baldwin for several hours in an attempt to get him out of the house.
Eventually he came out of the building and was arrested on suspicion of assault.
The following day he was charged with using threatening, abusive, insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of or provoke unlawful violence.
On Wednesday July 2, at Hendon Magistrates Court, he pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced 12 weeks imprisonment.
Speaking after the case Detective Constable Nicholas Reeve from Harrow CID said police were pleased the courts decided a custodial sentence was appropriate.
