College students were treated to trip to the headquarters of The Discovery Channel for an annual volunteer activity day.

The students from Harrow College with learning difficulties and/or disabilities (LLDD students) were invited by the channel to come to their offices to make clocks.

Discovery volunteers designed and painted the timepieces with the help of students as part of the company’s annual volunteering day.

The clocks will now be sold in the college shop at the college’s Harrow Weald campus, which is run by students.

Principal of Harrow College Tony Medhurst, said: “Harrow College is delighted to take part in Discovery’s Impact Day.

“We are proud of the social enterprise skills our students display and it was a pleasure to share those skills by making clocks with volunteers from Discovery.”

The college’s Paint Pots shop sells arts and crafts made by LLDD students and also aims to teach them key employment skills such as customer service and stock taking.
