Firefighters across England are set go on strike for the next three days as a result of pensions.

The Fire Brigade Union will strike between 12pm and 5pm tomorrow and between 2pm on Saturday, May 3 and 2am on Sunday 4 May as well as between 10am and 3pm on the same day.

The strike comes after a breakdown in negations between the FBU and government over pensions which have been ongoing for the past three years.

Westminster fire minister, Brandon Lewis, wrote to the union saying the government was no longer willing to discuss the issue and would now impose their proposals.

The FBU has cited the level of pay in employee contributions as too high and claim the protection of pensions for existing firefighters are not sufficiently protected.

There will be a ban on voluntary overtime across England and Wales from 3pm on Sunday, May 4 until 12pm on Friday, May 9.
