A new climbing wall will be officially opened tomorrow after an investment of £28,000.

The facility will open at Harrow Leisure Centre after the centre's old wall in a squash court was closed last year.

A campaign was launched last year to save the wall after the closure, which some climbers feared would spell the end of the sport in the borough.

Leisure Centre operators Everyone Active invested in creating a new wall.

Contract manager Duncan Cogger. “We’re so pleased that Harrow Council and Amphibia Frog were able to secure the funding to replace this much-loved facility and we’re looking forward to showcasing the new and improved wall to the local community this weekend.

“The climbing wall provides another way for people to get active and its fun that the whole family can enjoy. It’s a great addition to the wide range of facilities already on offer here at Harrow Leisure Centre.”
