A charity auction to raise sponsorship money for a gruelling cycling challenge raised more than £5,000.

Beverley Pegg and her husband held the event at Kingsbury Services Club, in Stag Lane, Kingsbury on Saturday March 29.

The event raised money for their friend Ian Robinson, who will be taking part in the Help for Heroes Big Battlefield Bike Ride in June this year.

Mrs Pegg said: “It was a fantastic night and everyone really enjoyed themselves.

“I'm really proud of the event and that we were able to raise so much for a good cause. We all want to thank everyone for all their generosity.”

The evening included a raffle and charity auction with signed memorabilia from football clubs, the band Madness and other luxury items.

The £5,100 raised from the evening will go towards sponsoring Mr Robinson on his mammoth bike ride, which will cover a distance of 355 miles from Brussels to Paris and the battlefields of the western front of the First World War.

Mrs Pegg added: “I think Ian is a star and he is going to raise a huge amount of money for a very worthy cause.”
