An Olympic medallist has been announced as one of the guests of honour at a hospital’s charity walk.

Max Whitlock, the 21-year-old Olympic gymnast, will help kick off the 12th annual Buttercup Walk, in aid of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital development appeal.

The 1km walk aims to raise money to improve patient care at the hospital in Brockley Hill, Stanmore.

Rosie Stolarski, director of fundraising at The RNOH Charity, said: “The Buttercup Walk is always such an enjoyable day out for our patients and their families as well as the local community.

“We are delighted to be able to announce the date for the 2014 walk and will be announcing more exciting additions to the day in the coming weeks.

“Our flagship charity fundraiser aims to raise vital funds which go directly towards the provision of additional facilities and equipment that will enhance patient care at the RNOH.

“We’re encouraging people to come along, including patients past and present, to support the hospital – while also having a great day out.”

Registration for the walk is now open and those interested in taking part can sign up by clicking here.
