Scouts in Harrow won camping and expedition equipment thanks to their dedication and leadership.

Boys and girls from the Greater London Middlesex West area, which includes Harrow, were given Jack Petchey Foundation Achievement Awards at a ceremony Kensington Great Hall.

Each were awarded with a certificate and a cheque for £200 towards their troop or unit.

Javam Newallo, 16, from Stanmore & District got his award for his dedication in his explorer scout unit and for completing his silver Duke of Edinburgh Award.

His grant money will go on two double gas burners and a range of cooking utensils.

Millie Flashman, 14, from Harrow & Wealdstone group was given her award for her commitment and leadership in her group.

Her grant will go towards, first aid kits, survival bags and wind and waterproof matches to support the Scouts on forthcoming expeditions.

Scout County Commissioner Terry Kingham said: “I’m very proud of our award winners and congratulate them all.

“They are an inspiration to younger people coming through the Scout movement. I’m also very grateful to the Jack Petchey Foundation for the support it has given to our county.”
