A group of mums held a Holi festival celebration to help teach children about their cultural heritage.

More than 150 people attended the event, held by the Desi Twist Group at Pinner parish church on Saturday.

The Hindu festival includes the throwing of coloured powder, symbolising the victory of good over evil.

Celebrations were organised by a group of mums who wanted to teach their children about their cultural heritage.

The group’s first event was for Diwali last year and they have organised events for cultural celebrations from different cultures.

Organiser Shivani Singh, 34, of Valley Close said: “It was an amazing event and everyone had a fantastic time.

“Because we are far from out home, a group of us thought it would be good to teach our children about their cultural heritage.

“After we did a Diwali event we didn’t think it would take off, but it’s just grown and grown and we have had great feedback from other parents.”
