People will have the chance to take part in a fitness weekend organised to highlight the importance of keeping active.

Harrow Borough Council has will hold the Active Harrow weekend on Saturday March 22 and Sunday March 23 to help get people fit and healthy.

There will more than 20 taster activities at locations across the including dance sessions at Harrow Arts centre, football at the Hive in Camrose Avenue, and karate lessons.

There will also demonstrations in St Anns Road, in Harrow town centre from 11am to 5pm which will include Irish dancing, yoga, modern dance display by Harrow’s Kidology Dance Company and a karate demonstration.

The event will also coincide with Sports Relief events taking place at the Bannister Sports Centre and Harrow Leisure Centre on the Sunday.

Cabinet member for health and wellbeing Cllr Simon Williams: “There is an extraordinary range of free sessions on offer throughout the weekend.

“We’d love for everyone to try out as many as possible but even if you just participate in one, it will still be a huge step towards getting fitter and healthier.

“There is so much to choose from and you never know, you could end up discovering a new hobby.”
