School children were given a tour of Wembley Stadium as part of a young ambassador sports programme.

The event, organised by Kingsbury High School, gave Year 5 pupils from ten primary schools a tour of the stadium last week.

Pupils from Kingbury High also trained the primary pupils to become sports ambassadors for their schools as part of the programme which aims to develop young leaders and volunteers through sport.

Gold Ambassador and Kingsbury High School student Sakthy Uthayakumar, 15, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed this experience.

“It was eye-opening to see how many ambassadors there are and I’m proud to see that even after we go off to different colleges and universities these ambassadors will continue to thrive.

“To me, being an ambassador means a variety of things. It's not something that I enjoy just because I can put it on my CV, but because I can help solve problems such as a lack of participation in sports.”

The year five pupils were working towards becoming Bronze ambassadors and got the chance to meet England and Team GB women's football captain Casey Stoney.
