Singers who formed a choir while at school have reunited after 38 years to celebrate the achievements of their conductor.

Kingsbury High School Choir performed in Radlett this Saturday to honour the achievements of conductor Diana Kiverstein, who now teaches at Radlett Preparatory School.

The choir was formed more than 40 years ago at the school and went on to win many competitions in the UK and abroad.

As the members left the school, the choir developed into the Harrow based singing group 'Jubilate' which has recently performed at Westminster Cathedral after winning the Barnardo's National Choir competition.

Some of the original members have been singing with the choir for 38 years.

The event was organised by sisters Helen and Karen Street, who did so to thank Miss Kiverstein for the years of work she put into running the choir.

Helen said: "The experiences we had in the choir, with the concerts, trips, television and radio broadcasts and competitions, were amazing.

“Being in the choir has influenced many of us, as we still sing, and have gone on to conduct, run music groups, arrange concerts and have been able pass the love of singing onto other children and adults following Kivvy's tradition."

During the day the choir sang many of their old songs, the highlight being a performance of the John Denver classic Annie's Song, which brought tears to the eyes of their former conductor, as well as many of the singers.

Many of the children of former members are now following the tradition of their parents and performing too due to the dedication of the former choir mistress.
