Harrow’s top policeman and his officers put their packing skills to the test to raise more than £700 for a girls brigade.
Borough Commander Chief Superintendent Simon Ovens helped bags at a supermarket in South Harrow in aid of the First Stanmore Troop Girls Brigade.
Chief Supt Ovens and the Mayor of Harrow Councillor Nana Assante will present a cheque for £755 at Stanmore Baptist Church on Friday, March 14, at 7pm.
At the event on Christmas Eve, shoppers were made aware of the charity as they entered the supermarket and cash was donated by both store employees and shoppers alike.
The Stanmore girls brigade was chosen because it is affiliated to the mayor’s charity and is not an obvious choice as a unit that might benefit from financial gifts.
