Harrow Borough Council finally has a budget after late-night discussions between political leaders.

An agreement was reached by the Conservative and Independent Labour groups to pass the budget with a series of amendments.

The authority's 62 members could not agree on the Tory administration’s budget plan for the year ahead or alternative budgets from Labour and the Independent Labour group.

A recess was called and council leader Councillor Susan Hall, Labour leader Cllr David Perry and Independent Labour leader Cllr Thaya Idaikkadar left the chamber to negotiate a deal.

After just over an hour they returned with a deal agreed for the Conservative budget with amendments from the Independent Labour proposals, including money for the Under One Sky festival.

The final budget with amendments was passed with 33 votes in favour and 24 votes against.
