Radio show hosts have been awarded for giving up their nights to entertain hospital patients.

Amit Pall and Michaela Jeffries, volunteers at Radio Northwick Park, have won £200 through the Jack Petchey Foundation.

The duo spend Thursday evenings hosting a show for the charity, broadcast from the Watford Way, Harrow, hospital.

Michaela, who has been volunteering since 2008, said: "I feel really privileged to be recognised by my peers for my work.

“I love visiting patients and contributing to cheering them up in hospital as well as getting to work in a team of well rounded and fun people."

They will now decide how to spend their award in a way that benefits the station’s volunteers.

Amit said: "Winning a Jack Petchey award epitomises the fantastic work Radio Northwick Park volunteers do on a weekly basis. It may appear as a personal award but it is a shared success for our radio station."
